Cross-Platform Digital Experience Design (App & Web)
Goal
Establish a premium digital presence for Arkwood Movies that reflects its status as a leader in African cinema. The objective was to design a unified experience across mobile and desktop that bridges the gap between high-end film production and global audience engagement, making Ethiopian storytelling accessible to the world.
Solution
Developed a cohesive design system optimized for cinematic content and storytelling.
- Unified Visual Identity: Created a dark-themed, "cinema-first" UI that emphasizes high-quality posters and trailers, ensuring the production value of the films is the focal point.
- Responsive Ecosystem: Designed a seamless transition between the Mobile App (on-the-go discovery), Mobile Web (quick access), and Desktop Web (immersive browsing).
- Story-Driven UX: Implemented an information architecture that highlights directors and cast to deepen the connection between the audience and the production house.
- Performance-First Layout: Optimized image-heavy layouts to ensure fast load times without compromising the visual fidelity of the film assets.
Results
- Brand Authority: Shifted the digital narrative from a traditional production house to a modern, tech-forward media brand.
- Engagement: Increased average session duration by creating an "endless discovery" flow for movie trailers and production news.
- Consistency: Reduced design-to-live time for new film launches by using a flexible, component-based layout that works across all devices.
- Global Reach: Improved international accessibility through a clean, intuitive interface that meets global web standards.
